Professional Staff

Rabbi Rachel Gurevitz has been with Congregation B’nai Shalom since July 2012. She previously served as Associate Rabbi at Congregation B’nai Israel in Bridgeport, CT. Rabbi Gurevitz was ordained from Hebrew Union College in 2006. She received her doctorate in Cultural Geography from University College London in 1999. Rabbi Rachel is an Associate of CLAL (National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership), where she was in the pioneering fellowship year of Rabbis Without Borders, was selected for a LEAP fellowship (a partnership project with the Katz Institute for Advanced Judaic Studies at UPenn), and serves as a mentor with CLI program (Clergy Leadership Incubator).  She has a particular love of Jewish music, spirituality, and opportunities for interfaith bridge-building.

At Congregation B’nai Shalom, Rabbi Rachel has brought innovations to the community’s worship experience. She has created new opportunities for those who wish to deepen their spiritual journey. Placing opportunities to build genuine community connections at the heart of how we celebrate, learn, and do acts of social justice together, Congregation B’nai Shalom has become a hub of enriching activities of all kinds, with members working in partnership with leadership to continually experiment and create new opportunities to express Jewish values in action.

Rabbi Rachel is married to Rabbi Suri Krieger, and is proud to be part of a family with her four adult step-children.

Rabbi Joe Eiduson, R.J.E, grew up involved in the Reform Jewish community of Temple Beth Zion, Buffalo, NY, where, to this day, you can see his Confirmation photo on the wall. From age twelve, Rabbi Joe spent summers at Jewish camps, including Camp White Pine and Eisner Camp. Following High School, Rabbi Joe was a counselor, unit head, and songleader at Goldman Union Camp Institute (GUCI) in Zionsville, Indiana. Throughout high school and while at Michigan, Rabbi Joe was a dedicated camp and youth grouper, active in NELFTY, working at GUCI, and developing his song-leading skills. After college, Rabbi Joe spent a year studying in Israel and then five years at HUC's Cincinnati Seminary, obtaining a master's degree and ordination and an M.Ed. from Xavier University. Rabbi Joe served congregations in Cincinnati and Buffalo and worked as Head of two Jewish Day Schools in Cleveland and Boston. In 2007, Rabbi Joe settled at Congregation B'nai Shalom and has served us as Rabbi-Educator for over 16 years.

Rabbi Joe has been a fixture as a fire and police chaplain for several departments for over 30 years and is a trained firefighter and EMT. He is pursuing a master's degree in Mental Health Counseling and treats youth and young adults in Worcester. From Fire Academy graduations to volunteering at the finish line at the Boston Marathon, he has supported EMS personnel and victims in too many places to count around the Boston metro community. He is on the executive committee of the Mass Corps of Fire Chaplains, the only rabbi to serve as a fire chaplain in the Commonwealth, and President of the Association of Reform Jewish Educators. The ARJE is the professional organization for Jewish educators around the world. Rabbi Joe created Shabbat Rishon, our Temple's monthly family Shabbat service, our acclaimed Chai School program, our Eitz Chayim religious school, our Gates of Community Bet Mitzvah program, and our annual Rosh Hashanah Family Retreat.

Rabbi Joe is married to Rabbi Dr. Lisa Eiduson, a Cleveland native and Boston University Graduate. Together, they have an obnoxious labrador retriever, Bailey, and two daughters, Rosie and Carly Eiduson, who recently began their residencies in pediatric medicine.
